  • Segregated/shared lane needed for cyclists on road out of Dunnington Village

    Anon // 1 thread

This road to Dunnington Village, from the railway bridge to the traffic lights, approx 0.5 mile, is on the NCN 66, but has 60 mph limit and no path for walkers or cyclists!!! Cycling the route is quickest, but would-be cyclists don't cycle because they feel unsafe on this route where buses, lorries and cars thunder past at 60 mph. it's en route to two high schools, and consequently several children cycle on this route.Quite simply, this road needs a segregated cycleway, for which there is plenty of space.

  • High-Petergate one-way

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

Like Fossgate, High Petergate needs to be made two-way for cyclists. Otherwise cyclists travelling north are forced to either get off and walk (not an option for disabled cyclists) or join the busy St Leonard's place via a difficult junction.

  • Fossgate

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Need to allow cyclists to go both ways along Fossgate. The current one-way system forces cyclists to take a long and inconvenient route around when travelling south, either via Picadilly and its traffic lights, or Hungate Bridge. For someone with a disability this is a significant diversion, and for able-bodied cyclists it is plain inconvenient.

  • Water End

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

Very dangerous junction between Water End, Water Lane and Clifton. Despite being part of the orbital route there is no safe option for cyclists to cross over Clifton Road, with no safe on-road or off-road cycle lane.

  • Monkgate cycle markings needed

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Most cyclists are turning right here but there is no provision for cyclists - infrastructure required at this busy junction.

  • Millfield Lane

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Millfield lane suffers badly from traffic rat-running along, to avoid congestion on Hull Road. Much of the traffic travels at well over the speed limit. Local residents are petitioning for speed control measures. We'd like to see the road bollarded off so that only residents can access it, and we also believe that Millfield Road could then become an excellent cycle alternative route instead of Hull Road.

  • Lilac Avenue crossing

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Traffic is going fast and frequently jumps the red lights at this crossing. The crossing is a vital place for both cyclists and pedestrians to cross the road. Crossing reminder signs are needed, or some other form of traffic calming before the lights.

  • Hull Road cycle lane required

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

This road is incredibly dangerous for cyclists. Lorries from the skip/refuse centre and cars all drive fast and don't give cyclists sufficient space. A segregated cycle lane is desperately needed.

  • parking on Heslington Road

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

New parking provision for cars is extremely dangerous for cyclists, forcing cyclists out into the road. Illegal parking still persists along this road too.

  • Heslington Lane cycle path

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Cyclists often use the road instead of the cycle path alongside Heslington Lane. This is most likely because of the poor linkage at the eastern end of the cycle path, where it is difficult and dangerous for cyclists to rejoin the road, and cyclists/pedestrians are not given priority when crossing the road into the university.

  • Fishergate Gyratory nightmare!

    Kate Ravilious // 2 threads

The Fishergate Gyratory is a complete nightmare for all cyclists and very dangerous. Crossing the lanes of the busy dual carriage-way is dangerous and drivers show little awareness or patience with cyclists. The entire junction needs rethinking.

  • Cemetery Road turning

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Scary to turn right onto Cemetery Road, from Fulford Road. Cyclists are left very vulnerable in the middle of a busy road, and the middle of the road is very uneven, increasing the risk of losing balance while trying to manoeuvre. Cycle lane needed here.

  • Fishergate pot holes

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Terrible pot holes close to the kerb. Very dangerous for cyclists, particularly on this narrow and busy stretch of road.

  • Skeldergate Bridge

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

It is impossible to travel on a cycle from Clifford's Tower to the other side of Skeldergate Bridge, without going around the entire Fishergate Gyratory - a really unpleasant and unnecessarily long experience. The alternative is to push your cycle over the bridge using narrow pavements and being hemmed in by barriers: impossible for people with limited mobility, or non-standard cycles.

  • New Walk cleaning

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

All the riverside walk/cycle routes become dangerous and slippery after flooding, and need prompt cleaning with a hose, and drains unblocking.

  • Hospital Fields Road barrier

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

The padlocked barrier at the end of Hospital Fields Road is inaccessible for non-standard cycles, and difficult to pass through for anyone except the most able-bodied cyclists.

  • Bishy Road traffic

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

Bishy Road is dominated by traffic at the expense of cyclists and pedestrians

  • Millfield Road

    Kate Ravilious // 0 threads

Drivers tend to turn left here without indicating, making it very dangerous for cyclists

  • Lendal Gyratory

    Kate Ravilious // 1 thread

Removal of cycle lane leaves cyclists exposed in the approach to the advanced stop box. Extreme danger for cyclists because of vehicles switching lanes to get around the junction.
