Cyclists often use the road instead of the cycle path alongside Heslington Lane. This is most likely because of the poor linkage at the eastern end of the cycle path, where it is difficult and dangerous for cyclists to rejoin the road, and cyclists/pedestrians are not given priority when crossing the road into the university.
